Convert Markdown to HTML with a live preview

Markdown lets you write formatted text quickly using simple symbols, without fiddling with HTML tags. When you need the HTML — for a website, a CMS that doesn't support Markdown, an email template or a README you want to preview — this converter does it instantly. Type on the left, and see the rendered result or the clean HTML code on the right. Everything happens in your browser.

Features

  • Live preview that updates as you type.
  • GitHub Flavored Markdown: tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks and fenced code blocks.
  • Optional line breaks — turn single newlines into <br> tags.
  • Clean HTML output without inline styles or extra wrappers, ready to paste anywhere.
  • Download as a complete page with a simple, readable stylesheet.
  • Safe preview in a sandboxed frame that blocks scripts.

Tables are written with pipes and a separator row of dashes. Colons in the separator row align columns: :--- left, :---: centre, ---: right.

Common uses

  • Blogs and CMSs that accept HTML but not Markdown.
  • Email newsletters — write in Markdown, paste the HTML into your email tool.
  • README and documentation previews before you push to GitHub or GitLab.
  • Converting notes from Obsidian, Notion exports or other Markdown apps into web pages.
  • Learning HTML by seeing which tags each Markdown construct produces.

Tips

  • Leave a blank line between paragraphs, lists and headings — it avoids most formatting surprises.
  • Indent nested list items by two or four spaces consistently.
  • Add a language name after the opening code fence (for example ```js) so syntax highlighters on your site can colour the code.

To count the words in your text, use the Word Counter. For structured data, the JSON Formatter validates and beautifies JSON.

Frequently asked questions

What is Markdown?
Markdown is a plain-text formatting syntax created to be easy to read and write. You use symbols such as
What is GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM)?
GFM is a widely used extension of standard Markdown. It adds tables, task lists (- [ ] and - [x]), strikethrough (text), automatic links for URLs and fenced code blocks. Turn it off if you need strict CommonMark output.
Why don't single line breaks appear in the output?
In standard Markdown, a single newline inside a paragraph is treated as a space; you need a blank line to start a new paragraph, or two spaces at the end of a line for a line break. Tick Line breaks to turn every newline into a <br> tag, like GitHub comments do.
Is raw HTML in my Markdown kept?
Yes. Markdown allows inline HTML, and it's passed through to the output. The preview runs in a sandboxed frame that blocks scripts, so pasted content can't run code on this page. If you publish HTML from untrusted sources on your own site, sanitize it there.
Does the HTML include styles?
The copied HTML contains only the content markup, so it takes on your website's styles. The downloaded .html file is a complete page with a small, readable stylesheet, handy for sharing or printing.
