Frequently asked questions

How do I delete a word everywhere?
Type the word in Find and leave Replace empty. Every occurrence is removed. Tick Whole words only so that, for example, removing "art" doesn't change "start".
How do regular expressions work here?
With Regular expression ticked, the Find box is a JavaScript regular expression. Use $1, $2… in the replacement for captured groups and $& for the whole match. Example: find (\w+)@(\w+)\.com and replace with $2: $1 to rearrange email addresses.
Can I replace line breaks?
Yes, in regex mode. Find \n to match a line break, and type \n in the replacement to insert one. For example, replace \n with , to join lines.
Does Whole words only work in other languages?
Yes. Word boundaries are based on Unicode letters and digits, so accented words and non-Latin scripts are handled correctly. Note that Chinese and Japanese don't use spaces between words, so whole-word matching is rarely useful there.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
