Where placeholder text is useful
Web and app design. Fill mock-ups and prototypes so stakeholders can judge spacing, line length and hierarchy without being distracted by draft copy.
Front-end development. Test how components behave with short and long content: card titles that wrap to three lines, descriptions that overflow, or tables with long cell values. An exact word count makes these edge cases easy to reproduce.

Choosing the right amount
As a rough guide, a short paragraph is about 50–80 words, a blog post is 600–1,500 words, and a product description is 50–200 words. Generate a similar amount to the content that will eventually replace it — layouts often look fine with one short paragraph and break with real-length copy.
