  4. 4Enter a start time to see the time of day after the total duration.

Add and subtract time easily

Time doesn't add up like ordinary numbers: 50 minutes plus 20 minutes is 1 hour 10 minutes, not 70. This time calculator adds and subtracts any number of durations in hours, minutes and seconds and takes care of the carrying. Use it to total the length of video clips or music tracks, add up race splits, plan a schedule, total project time or work out what time a journey, a recipe or a meeting will end.

Features

  • Add or subtract any number of durations.
  • Hours, minutes and seconds, with automatic carrying.
  • Three result formats: h:mm:ss, decimal hours and total minutes.

  • Instant results as you type.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add hours and minutes?
Add the hours and minutes separately, then carry every 60 minutes into an hour. 2:45 + 1:30 = 3 hours 75 minutes = 4:15. The calculator handles seconds and carrying for you.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 4 hours 15 minutes is 4 + 15/60 = 4.25 hours. Decimal hours are used for timesheets, invoices and payroll.
Can I enter more than 59 minutes?
Yes. You can type 90 minutes or 200 seconds and they're converted automatically.
What if the result is negative?
If you subtract more than you add, the total is shown with a minus sign. That's useful for working out how much time is left, for example a deadline minus time spent.
What time will it be after the duration?
Enter a start time and the calculator adds the total. If the result goes past midnight, it shows how many days later (+1 day), which is handy for flights, shifts and long drives.
