How to use Click Speed Test

  1. 1Choose a test length — 5 seconds is the most common, 1 second measures pure burst speed.
  2. 2Click inside the big box to start. The timer begins with your first click.
  3. 3Keep clicking until the time runs out. Your clicks and live CPS are shown above the box.
  4. 4Read your final score, then press Try again to beat your best result.

How fast can you click?

The click speed test, also known as a CPS test, counts how many times you can click a mouse button in a set time and reports the result in clicks per second. Gamers use it to train for titles where clicking speed matters, such as Minecraft PvP, clicker and idle games, and rhythm games. It's also a quick, fun challenge to share with friends — and a simple way to check that your mouse button registers every click.

Features

  • Six test lengths: 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 seconds.
  • Live statistics while you click: time left, total clicks and current CPS.
  • Precise timing based on your browser's high-resolution clock.
  • Best score per test length, saved locally in your browser.
  • Works with any device: mouse, touchpad or touchscreen.
  • No ads inside the click area and nothing to install.

CPS ranges at a glance

CPS Level
Under 5 Relaxed clicking
5–7 Average
7–9 Fast
9–11 Very fast — usually trained or jitter clicking
12+ Exceptional — butterfly or drag clicking territory

Short tests produce higher numbers because you can sustain your peak speed for a second or two. Over 30 or 60 seconds, endurance matters and most people's CPS drops noticeably.

Clicking techniques

Regular clicking uses the index finger on the left button. It's the most comfortable and is what most CPS scores are based on.

Jitter clicking tenses the forearm and wrist so the finger vibrates on the button. It can reach 10–14 CPS but is tiring.

Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on one button and can exceed 15 CPS on mice whose switches register it well.

Drag clicking drags a finger across the button so friction produces many rapid clicks; it needs a mouse with a suitable surface and is not allowed on some game servers.

Tips for a better score

  • Rest your wrist on the desk and click with your finger, not your whole arm.
  • Warm up with a few short 1-second rounds before a longer test.
  • Stop if your hand or wrist hurts. Fast clicking repeated for long periods can cause strain.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good CPS score?
Most people click 5–7 times per second with normal clicking. 8–10 CPS is fast, and above 10 CPS usually requires techniques such as jitter clicking or butterfly clicking. Competitive players can reach 12–15 CPS or more for short bursts.
How is CPS calculated?
Your total number of clicks is divided by the length of the test in seconds. For example, 38 clicks in a 5-second test is 7.6 clicks per second.
What are jitter clicking and butterfly clicking?
Jitter clicking means tensing your arm so your finger vibrates rapidly on one mouse button. Butterfly clicking uses two fingers alternately on the same button. Both raise CPS but can strain your hand, so take breaks and stop if it hurts.
Does my mouse affect the score?
A little. Light, responsive switches help, and a worn mouse can register double clicks that inflate scores. If your score jumps unexpectedly or single clicks count twice, check the button with our Mouse Test.
Can I use a touchpad or touchscreen?
Yes. Taps on a touchscreen and clicks on a touchpad are counted the same way as mouse clicks.
Is my best score saved?
Your best score for each test length is stored only in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, and clearing your browser data resets it.
