How to use Blur Image

  1. 1Choose an image or drop it onto the page.
  2. 2Pick Blur or Pixelate, and set the strength.
  3. 3Drag on the image to draw a box over each area you want to hide. Use Undo to remove the last box — or choose Whole image to blur everything.
  4. 4Download the result as JPG or PNG.

Hide private details in photos

Before you share a screenshot or a photo online, it's worth checking what's in it: other people's faces, children, car license plates, house numbers, names on letters, email addresses, chat messages, QR codes, boarding passes or the contents of a screen. This tool blurs or pixelates exactly the areas you choose — or the whole image — in a few seconds, without uploading anything.

Features

  • Blur or pixelate with adjustable strength.
  • Draw any number of boxes with mouse or touch.
  • Whole-image mode for backgrounds, previews and spoilers.
  • Undo and clear to fix mistakes.
  • JPG or PNG download at full resolution.
  • Private by design: the image is processed only on your device.

What to hide before sharing

In the picture Why
Faces of other people, especially children Privacy and consent
License plates and house numbers Can reveal where someone lives
Names, addresses, phone numbers Personal data
Barcodes and QR codes on tickets Can be copied and reused
Screens and documents in the background May show confidential information
Card and account numbers Fraud risk — cover completely

Tips

  • Make boxes larger than the detail so edges and partial letters are covered too.
  • Use high strength for text. Light blur may leave text guessable.
  • Pixelate for clarity, blur for looks. Pixelation signals clearly that something was removed.
  • Finish the job: remove hidden metadata from other photos with Remove EXIF, crop away whole areas with Crop Image, or add labels with Add Text to Image.

Frequently asked questions

Is blurring safe for hiding sensitive information?
Strong blur or large pixel blocks make text and faces unreadable to people. However, weak blur on short text such as numbers can sometimes be reversed or guessed. For passwords, account numbers and documents, use a high strength, cover the area generously — or paint a solid box over it instead.
What's the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur softens the area into a smooth haze and looks natural in photos. Pixelate replaces it with large squares, the classic "censored" look that makes it obvious something was hidden.
Does it remove information from the file?
The downloaded image is a new file created from the edited pixels, so the hidden areas can't be recovered from it. Photos can also contain location and camera details in their metadata; the new file doesn't include them, and you can check other photos with Remove EXIF.
Can I blur several areas?
Yes. Draw as many boxes as you need. Each one uses the current effect and strength.
Is my image uploaded?
No. All editing happens in your browser, which matters most for exactly the kind of private photos you'd want to blur.
