A quarter-hour timer with an alarm

Fifteen minutes — a quarter of an hour — is how long many everyday things take: a proper break, a short workout, a revision block, a power nap, a kids' activity, a lesson segment. This 15 minute timer is already set when the page opens. Press Start, and the large countdown, progress bar and tab title keep you informed until the alarm sounds.

Everyday uses for fifteen minutes

  • Longer breaks — after a few focused work sessions, step away for fifteen minutes to eat something, walk or rest your eyes.
  • Power naps — many people find that a short nap of 10–20 minutes helps them feel more alert without waking up groggy.
  • Revision blocks — split studying into quarter-hour chunks: one topic per block, with a quick self-test at the end.
  • Workouts — a fifteen-minute circuit, run, yoga flow or stretching routine fits into a lunch break.
  • Cooking and baking — rice, roasted vegetables, cookies and many oven dishes need around fifteen minutes.
  • Classroom segments — introductions, group tasks and presentations can each get a fixed quarter hour, shown full screen on the board.
  • Screen-time limits — an easy, visible limit for children's games or videos.
  • Reading — fifteen minutes of reading a day adds up to many books a year.

Tips

Use the progress bar. It fills from left to right, so a glance tells you roughly how much of the quarter hour has passed without reading the digits.

Silence it when needed. Untick Alarm sound if you are in a library or quiet office; the display still shows Time's up! when the countdown ends.

Keep the screen on with phones. Some mobile browsers mute background tabs or stop sound when the screen locks, so leave the page visible for a reliable alarm.

Run it again. Press Reset and Start to time another fifteen minutes — useful for repeated study or work blocks.

Accuracy you can rely on

The timer stores the exact end time and checks it against your device clock several times per second, so it doesn't fall behind when your browser slows down inactive tabs. The alarm is created by the browser itself, without loading any audio files.

Prefer a different duration? Try the 10 Minute Timer, 30 Minute Timer or 1 Hour Timer. For alternating work and break sessions, use the Pomodoro Timer, or set any length with the Countdown Timer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start a 15 minute timer?
Press Start. The page opens at 15:00 and counts down to zero, then plays an alarm. You don't need to type anything.
Is 15 minutes a good length for a break?
For many people, yes. After about four Pomodoro rounds (25 minutes of work plus 5-minute breaks), a longer break of 15–30 minutes is recommended. A timer helps the break end on time.
Will the alarm go off if I'm in another tab?
Yes, as long as the tab stays open and sound is enabled. The countdown is based on the real end time, so it remains accurate in the background. On phones, keep the page visible with the screen on.
Can I change the time before starting?
Yes. Edit the hours, minutes or seconds fields, or tap a preset such as 10 min or 20 min.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the page has loaded, the countdown and alarm run completely in your browser.
