Frequently asked questions

Are my recordings uploaded or stored?
No. Audio is recorded and kept only in your browser's memory on your device. Download your recordings before closing the page — they're gone when you leave.
Why doesn't the recorder hear anything?
Check that your browser has permission to use the microphone (look for the camera/microphone icon in the address bar), that the right input device is selected in your system settings and that the microphone isn't muted. The Mic Test can help find the problem.
What format are recordings saved in?
Browsers record in their native format — usually WebM or OGG with the Opus codec, or M4A in Safari. Click Save as MP3 for a file that plays everywhere.
How long can I record?
There's no fixed limit. Recordings use about 0.5–1 MB per minute, so even long sessions are fine on most devices. Keep the tab open while recording.
Is noise reduction applied?
Your browser's built-in echo cancellation and noise suppression are switched on, which helps with speech. For music, these features may slightly affect the sound.
