Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?
MP3 for maximum compatibility, M4A (AAC) for Apple devices and slightly better quality at the same size, OGG (Opus) for very efficient speech and web audio, and WAV for editing. FLAC files can be opened and converted, but browsers can't create FLAC files.
Does converting improve quality?
No. Converting an MP3 to WAV makes the file larger but can't restore detail that compression removed. Convert from the highest-quality source you have.
What bitrate should I use?
128 kbps is fine for speech and podcasts, 192 kbps for most music and 320 kbps for the best MP3 quality. WAV is lossless and has no bitrate setting.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser using WebCodecs; your files stay on your device.
Can I convert many files at once?
This tool converts one file at a time. Each conversion only takes a few seconds for typical songs.
