Extract audio from video

Want the music from a clip, the speech from a recorded lecture or webinar, or a podcast episode that was published as a video? This converter takes the audio track from your video and saves it as an MP3 or another audio format. It works entirely in your browser, so even large or private recordings are processed quickly and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is decoded and the audio is encoded by your browser using WebCodecs, directly on your device. That makes it private and also means there are no upload waits or file size limits beyond your device's memory.
Which bitrate should I choose?
128 kbps is fine for speech such as lectures and podcasts, 192 kbps is a good default for music, and 320 kbps is the highest MP3 quality. Choosing a higher bitrate than the original audio doesn't improve quality.
What's the difference between MP3, M4A, WAV and OGG?
MP3 plays everywhere. M4A (AAC) sounds slightly better at the same size and is standard on Apple devices. WAV is uncompressed and large, best for editing. OGG (Opus) is very efficient and widely supported in browsers and Android.
Why does it say my browser isn't supported?
The tool needs WebCodecs, available in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Opera, Safari (16.4 and later) and Firefox (130 and later). Update your browser or switch to one of these.
Can I convert only part of the video?
Extract the audio first and then cut it with Trim Audio, or trim the video first with Trim Video.
