How to use HEIC to JPG Converter

  1. 1Choose JPG (smaller, universal) or PNG (lossless).
  2. 2Drop your .heic or .heif photos onto the page, or click Choose files. The converter loads on first use.
  3. 3Wait for each photo to convert — HEIC decoding takes a moment per image.
  4. 4Download the photos individually or all at once as a ZIP.

Convert HEIC photos to JPG

iPhones save photos in HEIC format to save storage space, but many computers, websites and apps still can't open it. This HEIC to JPG converter turns your iPhone and iPad photos into standard JPG (or PNG) files right in your browser. Drop in a single photo or a whole album and download the converted images individually or as a ZIP file. No app to install, no account, and your photos are never uploaded.

How it works

The first time you add a HEIC file, the page loads a HEIC decoder that runs locally in your browser. Each photo is decoded, rotated according to its orientation, and saved as JPG at the quality you choose (or as lossless PNG). Because the processing happens on your own device, conversion speed depends on your computer or phone — a typical 12-megapixel photo takes a second or two.

JPG or PNG?

  • JPG is the best choice for photos: files are compact and open everywhere. A quality of 85–92 keeps the photo visually identical to the original.
  • PNG is lossless but produces very large files for photos (often 15–25 MB for an iPhone picture). Use it only if you need a lossless copy for editing.

When you need HEIC to JPG

  • Sending iPhone photos to friends or colleagues using Windows or Android.
  • Uploading photos to websites, online shops, job portals or government forms that only accept JPG.
  • Printing photos at a shop or online service.
  • Importing pictures into older editing or office software.

Privacy note

HEIC photos usually contain detailed EXIF metadata, including the GPS coordinates where they were taken. The converted files don't include this metadata, so you can share them more safely. If you want to remove metadata from existing JPGs without converting, use Remove EXIF.

To make the converted photos smaller, run them through Compress Image, or convert to other formats with the Image Converter.

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use for photos by default since iOS 11. It stores images at about half the size of a comparable JPG using HEVC compression. The general format is called HEIF; HEIC is Apple's variant.
Why can't I open HEIC photos on Windows or in some apps?
HEIC support depends on licensed codecs. Many Windows PCs, older Macs, Android phones, websites and office programs can't open HEIC files without extra software. Converting to JPG solves this.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your photos stay on your device, which matters for personal pictures.
Is EXIF data like location kept?
No. The converted JPG or PNG does not contain the original EXIF metadata, including GPS location — useful for privacy when sharing photos. The image orientation is applied before conversion.
How can I stop my iPhone from taking HEIC photos?
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. Alternatively, keep HEIC for storage and set Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic so iOS converts photos when you copy them to a computer.
Some HEIC files contain several images. What happens?
Burst photos or Live Photo containers can hold multiple images. The converter uses the primary image.
