A fast, private way to watermark image files

Whether you are a professional photographer sharing client proofs or a business owner protecting your visual assets, adding a watermark is an essential step before publishing content online. This tool allows you to watermark photos online quickly, securely, and in bulk.

Because the tool runs entirely in your web browser, your files are never uploaded to an external server. All image decoding, watermarking, and encoding happen directly on your device. This means you can process confidential images safely, and you don't have to wait for large high-resolution photos to upload and download.

Choose between text and logo watermarks

Depending on your needs, you can choose between two distinct types of watermarks:

Text Watermarks: If you just need to add a quick copyright notice, your name, or a website URL, the text option is the fastest method. You can type any text and select a custom color. To ensure your text is always visible, the tool automatically applies a smart, contrasting outline. If you choose black text, it gets a subtle white outline; if you choose white text, it gets a dark outline. This guarantees readability even if the watermark sits across a busy, high-contrast area of the photo.

Logo Watermarks: To add logo to photo files for consistent brand identity, switch to the logo mode. You can upload your own graphic—such as a company logo or a custom signature—in PNG, SVG, WebP, or JPEG format. Using a PNG or SVG with a transparent background is highly recommended, as it allows the underlying image to show through the negative space of your design.

Total control over placement and appearance

A good watermark should protect your image or identify your brand without completely ruining the viewing experience. The tool provides several sliders and controls to help you strike the perfect balance:

  • Size: The size slider adjusts the watermark relative to the width of your image (from 5% up to 90%). Because it scales based on percentage, your watermark will look proportionally identical across a batch of images, even if some are higher resolution than others.
  • Opacity: Lowering the opacity makes your text or logo semi-transparent. A 30% to 50% opacity is usually enough to establish ownership while letting the details of the photograph remain visible underneath.
  • Positioning: Use the 9-grid selector to snap your watermark to any corner, edge, or the exact center of the image. The tool automatically calculates a small padding margin so the watermark doesn't sit flush against the absolute edge of the frame.
  • Tiling: If you are sharing unpurchased proofs and want to prevent unauthorized cropping or use, select the "Tile" position. This repeats your watermark in a dense, diagonal pattern across the entire image. When tiling is active, an additional "Angle" slider appears, allowing you to rotate the repeating pattern from -90 to 90 degrees.

Batch watermark images with ease

Processing dozens of photos one by one is tedious. This tool is built to handle multiple files simultaneously. Simply drag and drop an entire folder of photos into the drop zone.

The preview window will display the first image in your queue. Once you adjust the text, logo, size, opacity, and position to your liking, those settings will apply to every image in the batch. Click the Apply button, and the tool will rapidly process the queue, packaging all the finished files into a single ZIP archive for easy downloading.

You can also use this step to standardize your file types. The output format dropdown lets you keep the original file format or convert everything in the batch to JPG, PNG, or WebP on the fly. If you need to reduce the file size of your images before or after watermarking, you can run them through the Compress Image tool, or use the Resize Image tool to scale down massive raw files for web delivery.

When to add watermark to photo files

Protecting Client Proofs: Photographers often send galleries of unedited or unpurchased photos to clients for selection. A tiled, semi-transparent watermark ensures these proofs aren't downloaded and printed or posted to social media without payment.

Brand Awareness: Social media is highly shareable, and images often lose their original context or captions when reposted. Placing a small, tasteful logo in the bottom corner ensures your brand name travels with the image, helping new audiences find your work.

Document Security: If you are dealing with sensitive scans or ID photos that you must send to a third party, adding a text watermark (e.g., "Provided exclusively to Company X on [Date]") can prevent identity theft and unauthorized reuse. If you need to apply this to document files rather than images, use the Watermark PDF tool instead.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using HTML5 Canvas. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and fast processing regardless of your internet connection.
Can I batch watermark images?
Yes, you can drop multiple files into the tool at once. Set up your watermark on the first image preview, and when you click Apply, the tool will process the entire queue and package them into a single ZIP file.
What formats are supported for the logo watermark?
You can upload PNG, SVG, WebP, and JPEG files to use as your logo. For the best results, use a PNG or SVG with a transparent background so it blends naturally over your photos.
How does the tile feature work?
The tile option repeats your watermark diagonally across the entire image. This is ideal for protecting proofs, as it makes it very difficult for someone to crop the watermark out. You can also adjust the rotation angle of the tiled pattern.
Why does my text watermark have a thin outline?
The tool automatically applies a subtle, contrasting outline to text watermarks. If you choose a dark color, it adds a light outline, and vice versa. This ensures your text remains readable even if it crosses over both light and dark areas of a photograph.
Can I change the image format while watermarking?
Yes. By default, the tool keeps the original format of your image. However, you can use the output format dropdown to automatically convert all processed images to JPG, PNG, or WebP.
