Convert JPG to PNG without uploading
JPG (also written JPEG) is the most common photo format, but it uses lossy compression: each time a JPG is edited and saved, a little more detail is lost. PNG is lossless — what you save is exactly what you get back. This JPG to PNG converter turns your images into PNG files in one step, right in your browser, so you can edit, archive or upload them in the format you need.
When PNG is the better choice
Editing. If you will crop, annotate, retouch or combine an image several times, work on a PNG copy to avoid stacking up compression artefacts.
Design and print workflows. Many templates, mock-up tools, icon generators and print-on-demand services ask for PNG files.
Adding transparency. Converting to PNG gives you a format that supports a transparent background, ready for an image editor to cut out the subject.
Screenshots and graphics saved as JPG by mistake. Converting stops further quality loss, although existing artefacts remain.

Good to know
The converter keeps the full original resolution and automatically corrects rotation from the photo's EXIF orientation. Camera metadata (EXIF), including GPS location, is not copied into the PNG — handy if you want to share photos without revealing where they were taken.
