How to use Rotate & Flip Image

  1. 1Use Rotate left or Rotate right to turn by 90°, or drag the angle slider for any angle between −180° and 180°.
  2. 2Press Flip horizontal or Flip vertical to mirror the image.
  3. 3Choose your images or drop them onto the box. They are rotated immediately with the current settings.

Rotate and flip images in your browser

A photo taken with the phone held sideways, a scanned page that came out upside down, a selfie that needs mirroring — these quick fixes shouldn't require a photo editor. This tool rotates images by 90°, 180°, 270° or any custom angle and flips them horizontally or vertically. Process one image or a whole batch, and download the results individually or as a ZIP. Everything runs locally, so your photos stay private.

Features

  • Quick 90° rotation left or right with one click.
  • Any angle from −180° to 180° to straighten a crooked horizon or scan.
  • Horizontal and vertical flip for mirror images.
  • Live preview of the first image.
  • Batch processing with a single ZIP download.
  • JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC input; PNG and WebP keep transparency.
  • EXIF orientation fixed — the saved image is upright in every app.

Common uses

  • Fix sideways phone photos before uploading them to websites that ignore EXIF orientation.
  • Straighten scans and documents that were fed into the scanner at a slight angle.
  • Mirror selfies, which front cameras often save reversed.
  • Prepare images for printing or slides in portrait or landscape format.
  • Create reflections and symmetrical designs with flips.

Tips

  • Straightening a horizon: rotate by small angles (1–5°) using the slider, then use Crop Image to remove the empty corners.
  • Rotating PDF pages instead of images? Use Rotate PDF, which keeps text sharp and selectable.
  • Need a smaller file afterwards? Resize with Resize Image or reduce the file size with Compress Image.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating reduce image quality?
PNG images are saved losslessly. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at high quality (92%), which is visually indistinguishable from the original for normal photos. Rotating repeatedly in different apps can add up, so it's best to rotate once from the original.
Why is my photo shown sideways in some apps but not others?
Phones often store photos in their original sensor orientation and add an EXIF tag that tells apps how to rotate them. Some apps and websites ignore that tag. This tool applies the EXIF orientation first and saves the pixels the right way up, so the result looks the same everywhere.
What happens to the corners when I rotate by an angle that isn't 90°?
The canvas is enlarged so that the whole image fits. The empty corners stay transparent for PNG and WebP images, and are filled with the background colour you choose for JPG images, which don't support transparency.
What is the difference between rotating and flipping?
Rotating turns the image around its centre, like turning a printed photo on a table. Flipping mirrors it, like looking at it in a mirror — text in a flipped image reads backwards. A horizontal flip followed by a vertical flip is the same as a 180° rotation.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Images are decoded, rotated and saved by your browser. They never leave your device.
