Convert kilograms and pounds
Kilograms are the standard unit of mass almost everywhere, while pounds remain common in the United States and, for body weight, in the UK and Canada. Whether you're reading a recipe, checking your weight on a foreign scale, packing luggage, buying produce or loading the bar at the gym, this converter gives you the exact answer in both directions as you type.

Gym weights
Plates and dumbbells are sold in both systems. A standard Olympic barbell weighs 20 kg (44 lb); a 20 kg plate is about 44 lb and a 45 lb plate is about 20.4 kg. Mixing kilogram and pound plates changes the total, so convert carefully when following a training plan.
